President, Senior Media Producer/Director
Robert has worked for over 25 years as a digital media executive, director, and editor with numerous client partners like American Express, Sony Pictures, the Wall Street Journal, and Conde Nast to provide creative content and stylized storytelling that strengthens brands. His critical skills include scriptwriting and analysis; content research and messaging; non-linear video editing; and film shoot coordination. With related experience as an independent film producer, he offers insight into improving efficiency and reducing costs on client projects, developing professional, creative, and impactful productions. Rob believes Nexus stands alone as a boutique media consultancy.
Writer & Communications Director
Joseph, who came to Nexus after two decades as an award-winning journalist covering politics and business, is a scholar with extensive communications and development experience and a passion for storytelling. He has advanced over 40 brands, including Michigan universities and secondary schools, the Catholic Church, International Brake, and Pure Michigan, serving as Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Orchard Lake. He spent more than a decade as a daily newspaper reporter before joining Crain’s Detroit Business. He shifted to marketing and communications in 2000, winning state and national honors, including PR Daily’s Best Online Newsroom award and recognition for work with content, video, SEO and web development, social media, and digital media.
Creative, Marketing & Digital Strategy
Jason possesses extensive music industry experience, having created album campaigns for David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, Gil Scott-Heron, and numerous other artists. He was the co-founder of Blender Magazine, which was sold to Dennis Publishing. Blender, which was named Ad Age magazine of the year, was the first digital publication to be included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and the Victoria & Albert Museums. Jason founded Online Giving, an innovative technology platform for nonprofits, which was successfully acquired by Sequoia Capital’s Starwire. His role at Nexus is to design, market, and develop digital online brands for the motion picture, advertisement, and nonprofit sectors.
Editor, Writer, Consultant
Ila is an editor, writer, and consultant who came to Nexus from the world of publishing. He was a features and travel editor at Harper’s Bazaar and editor-in-chief of Travel & Leisure and Food & Wine. She was a contributing writer at Departures and Town & Country. As a magazine start-up consultant, she worked with Hearst, the New York Times’ magazine division, and Meredith Corporation. She consulted on the development of More magazine before joining the staff as managing editor. Now, working with Nexus as Robert’s close content advisor, she’s expanding her horizons into media branding and into books and films, where once she was just a devoted fan.
Key Creative Artist, Storyboard
David worked in the commercial and movie industry as a storyboard artist and concept designer before joining Nexus in 2010. He can create sequences and storyboards, and pours his talent into realizing genuine works of art and inspirational sketches. All his drawings and concept designs have a solid cinematographic touch that drives home Nexus’ central purpose to show a story and not just tell one. David began a fruitful and robust collaboration working on Robert’s feature projects and has since joined the Nexus team as a key creative artist. According to Robert, “his vision and his cinematic experience are determinant in finding the right visual solutions, and his enthusiasm is a precious asset for us; he is very capable of leading the Creative Group from concept to completion straight to its target.”
Sound Design, Composer
John is an award-winning composer of music for film, television, and the concert stage, and has worked with Nexus since 2008. Along with his ongoing work with various Nexus clients, John has composed television series, films, and national advertising campaigns and songs performed by leading musicians and ensembles, including at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York. He has received awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, BMI (concert music and TV/film), ASCAP, Meet the Composer, and the Barlow Foundation. A doctoral graduate of The Juilliard School, John has had his work praised as “continually fascinating, a kinetic tour de force,” “steely and hard-edged,” and it can be heard in many advertisement spots, including ads for Hewlett-Packard, LG, Pfizer, Marriott, and Simmons. John’s ear for music and sound design is well suited for Nexus’s creative vision. As Robert is quick to proclaim with a smile, “John’s ears round out the full sense of vision at the heart of all our productions.”
Junior Video Editor, & Motion Graphics Designer
Matt has been working with Nexus since 2015 as a junior video editor and motion graphics designer. Based out of Princeton, PA, he has handled all aspects of post-production at Nexus and works closely with Robert in edit suites and at the studio. Matt serves as motion graphic artist on our Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Ortho McNeil Pharmaceuticals, and Bristol Meyer Squibb projects. Whether it’s Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Media Encoder, or MS Office, Paul knows how to execute for clients, as can be seen in his recent work on feature films with worldwide releases.
Photography, Photoshop Expert
Javier joined Nexus in 2013 as a photographer involved with various digital media as part of a special effects photo studio in New York City and a Photoshop expert at a service bureau in central New Jersey. His stock images have been sold worldwide through TSM and Corbis. With Nexus, he transformed his 2D skills in photography into 3D skills that allow him to excel in the world of cinematic filmmaking, combining photos with sketched graphics and artwork created by the Nexus team. He is often called upon by Robert to create a new world out of whole cloth. “With Javier on the team,” according to the director, “if we can envision it, we can make it! Nexus is at the forefront of blending digital media and online communications, and Javier is a vital part of Nexus’s ability to create numerous storytelling worlds!”
Account Executive, Project Coordinator
Alyssa recently joined Nexus as an account executive and project coordinator to help serve Nexus’s growing client portfolio. She has a background in market research, having spent several years in a client-facing role, managing copy-testing studies for companies such as Anheuser-Busch. Alyssa is dedicated to providing quality services to clients through her commitment to project organization and execution.
Senior Video Editor, Motion Graphics Designer, Post-Production Supervisor
Paul has been working with Nexus since 2010 as a senior video editor and elite motion graphics designer. Based out of Princeton, PA, he has handled all aspects of post-production at the Nexus editing suites, serving as a motion graphic artist on projects for Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Ortho McNeil Pharmaceuticals, AT&T, and Bristol Myers Squibb. Whether it’s Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Media Encoder, or MS Office, Paul knows how to execute for clients. He also works as a post-production supervisor, managing all of Nexus’s suites.
Web Designer, 3D Artist
Mario joined Nexus in 2015 as a senior graphics and web designer. His strong vision and refined taste for graphics, composition, and videos give him a complete range execution for collaborations with corporate and institutional partners and TV networks. He combines sculpture and character design as a 3D artist with his graphics skills.
Graphic Designer, Web Design
Silvia has recently joined Nexus, but has been passionate about visual arts and graphic design since 1999. Her international experiences offer Nexus a wide range of internal and external collaborations with agencies, companies, design studios, and institutions. From 2005, she has also been an Adobe Creative software instructor. Her goal with Nexus is to provide high-quality services to our clients and innovative, creative design skills to our team.
